A couple things to try, first off, have you tried each of the 2GB
sticks
individually in slot #1? If that works, try either alone in slot #2.

Next, insert both sticks, and run MemTest86+ from
'Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool'
(http://www.memtest.org/) and see if this yields any clues.

Thanks DevilsPGD. I've tried inserting the 2 Gb sticks on either slots
and the same happens. To do the other thing you suggest, I'll need to
boot my notebook somehow.

Your system still boots with just 2GB, correct? Can you boot with
either 2GB stick in slot #1 and slot #2 empty? How about if you test
each stick in slot #2 with slot #1 empty?

With both sticks on, it never gets to start
Vista, so I don't know how could I run a memtest. Any guidance? Thanks.

Memtest86+ is a bootable CD, you just need to create the CD (using any
PC, or your PC with only 2GB installed) Vista won't be involved in the
actual execution of the test.

Run the memtest on each stick individually. It's all you can do at the
moment.

That, and try running memtest with both. If you can't do that, you have
hardware problems, Vista isn't involved or related at all.

Vista's memory diagnostic wouldn't hurt either, but I'd tend to prefer
memtest86+ here since it's based on a different OS, so it can rule out
whether Vista is part of the problem or not.
