Default Attaching projector causes random cycling through screen resolutio

The attached projector displays just fine at any resolution or option (such
as extended or mirrored desktop). The problem is that it will not keep any
one setting for long. Within a few minutes, it will start trying other
resolutions, and cycle through 800x600, then 1024x768 then 1920x1028, all the
while also randomly choosing mirrored, extended and external display settings
(also, if the laptop cannot display the resolution, it simply goes blank as
if set for external display).

This problem does not happen with any other external monitor (they all work
great), and on the same laptop with XP, the projector worked fine.

All drivers are as updated as they can get and refresh rate (or any other
display settings) have no effect on this problem. They all display just
fine, the computer just won't keep any one setting for long.

Any suggestions are welcome.
