Not a system restore-
Repair.

Hmm, you need a o/s disk to use advanced repair/install features
Since you have access, ill find you a link to a Vista x64 torrent.
Donwnload that burn the iso image to a disk, and use your product key.
-unless you have access to anothers disk?

Vista all versions x64/x86
'vista 32 and 64 bit (download torrent) - TPB'

(note- to use system repair features you do not need to enter your
product key.
If you choose to enter product key for software it will only install
the version the key is for-i.e., you cannot install ultimate with a
premium key)

(dvd burner required)Vista ISO burner:
'ISO Recorder v3' (http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/Vista.htm)

(dvd burner required)Vista ISO burner:
'ISO Recorder v3' (http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/Vista.htm)
to burn ISO right click downloaded ISO file and option to burn ISO
image will be available with the above software. Nero users will find
ISO image burning as program feature, and can add the downloaded file
for burning.

*note- this is a way to acess the files using a linux vistro, and then
after you back up files, if you have a recovery partition, reinstall
vista from it*.

'*__Download_MEPIS_-_LQ_ISO_*' (http://iso.linuxquestions.org/mepis/)
(this will allow acess to files/folders on hard drive)
*Step1* 2
Burn it to CD as an ISO image
*Step2* 3
Boot from the CD drive, put Linux CD in drive and boot. It will run
Simply MEPIS from the CD, but it will not install
*Step3* 4
Sign in as: root, password: root

I tried to install that iso burner but to no avail anything else that
might work? It says "This installation package is not supported by this
processor type."

Nero, roxio. What processor type do you have?
32-bit version for x86, 64-bit version for x64, did you Install the
correct version on the system you are using? This will only work for
Vista. If you are using xp use Nero or Roxio to burn ISO image.

possibly. Did you do a full repair or just a startup repair. You
need to do a full repair, which is basically a reinstall that leaves
your files/folders intact.

Try the Mepis-use a thumb drive to copy your files since you will be
using the disk drive, then just delete your windows installation and
reinstall.
