How much RAM is your Video card using?
If you have 4 Gigs, and your video card uses 1 Gig of that, you will never show more than 3 Gigs available. A clarification he Video cards don't use *any* system ram. But if he has video support on the motherboard (which is what I think you meant), it *will* use system RAM, and as you say, will make some of the RAM unavailable. But using as much as 1GB for on-motherboard video support would be very unusual. I've never seen that much used.
