You should post this in a group for XP or a group for hardware. Sounds like a failing fan, possibly on the video card. Open the machine and with it unplugged carefully clean out any dust with compressed air. Then run it open and observe the fans. Replace any that are failing. If it is a fan on a video card, you may need to replace the video card. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |

This is a recent problem on my computer. All of a sudden the taskbar, and explorer or any pop up menus are pulsating. It is hard to pin them and type anything into boxes such as the run command. They keep clearing as I type. When I try and select from a menu, it disappears and there is not sufficent time to click on an item. If I go to Classic Menu, I can select, but boxes still flash as I have them open. Computer has been swept for spyware, viruses etc..... It seems it just started after one of my recent windows updates..... Running Windows Vista Basic on an ACER laptop with 2gb of Ram ... Any suggestions.. |
