I'm running Media Center on Vista x64 Ultimate and am having problems playing
AVI files. They play fine in Windows Media Player, but Media Center says it can't find the codecs needed to play them. All the ones I've tried so far use the DivX codec, and according to G-Spot, I have three compatible codecs installed. Any ideas what I should try? Many thanks |

Do you actually have DivX installed? Go to their website...it's free Paul Dundon;764984 Wrote: I'm running Media Center on Vista x64 Ultimate and am having problems playing AVI files. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I do have DivX installed; as
mentioned, all the files play fine in Media Player. As it happens, they also play fine in the DivX player. The problem seems to be with Media Centre finding the codecs. The 64bit Media Center would require 64bit AVI codecs. -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Spot on. I was running the 32 bit version of Media Player which was able to
use the 32 bit codecs. I downloaded a 64 bit codec pack from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multime...mponents.shtml and the AVIs play fine "zachd [MSFT]" wrote: The 64bit Media Center would require 64bit AVI codecs. -- Speaking for myself only.
