I think that is Autorun issue.Try to turn of Autorun for DVD drive,or change action when is application DVD/CD put to drive to "No action". So,go to Control Panel and select Auto Play----Software and Games,from drop down list select Take no Action or Ask me every time -- Lazaruslong

i have a asus commando board ,p4 2.8ghz, 2 gb ram

Does the system POWER OFF when you push the Eject button on the DVD-ROM?
If so, it may be an issue with a bad and/or under-powered Power Supply.
