Default Automatic Ripping

Hi I generally don't have many problems with WMP but I cannot get it to stop
automatically ripping cds when inserted even though I have set it to 'Rip CD
- Never' and as far as I can tell turned this option off everywhere in
Options under Tools - it even shows as having Never selected as it's doing it
- please can someone help
