Reporting a Smart Event
I use HP Pavilion Elite running Vista Home Premium which is less than a year old. Without making any recent changes to my system I am getting a message as follows, "A hard drive is reporting a smart event". and this message, "ST3360...... Hard disk failure is imminent. Please backup your hard disk and have it replaced." I did diagnostic test which resulted in status being ok on the ST33360..... disk. other than replacing the disk is there something else I can try? My first post so point me to the right place if I am off course. thanks -- Rancho |

Since the machine is still under warranty, contact HP for a replacement drive. While you're setting that up with HP, if you neglected to create restore disks you can order them at the same time. You will need them to install Windows when you get the new hard drive. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |
