explorer.exe does not run on startup
Hi Twlykins, It looks like the user profile was corrupted. I set up a new user and copied all files under old-user to new-user (except ntuser.* files). I should have modified security setting first, which would have helped overcome later restrictions. So far things are looking good with a few tweaks needed to import old mail and contacts etc. Time will tell. -- Jim T ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jim T's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/150802.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ce/1004970.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

explorer.exe does not run on startup
Hi,
If the "shell" string does not exist under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Then you must create it. Click on the Winlogon key, then click edit/new/string and call it shell and give it a value of explorer.exe. click ok, close the registry editor and reboot. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "laughlin" wrote in message ... this regedit does not work for me either.
