Default dual hard drives/dual desktops

I have a new laptop with Vista and my old hard drive with XP plugged in via a
mobile hub. How can I set up a desktop duality so I can access and use my
desktop as if from my old laptop?

I'm sorry, but you can't do that. XP won't boot from an external hard drive.
You can use the data of course, but not the programs or the operating
system.
