When I try to view a picture that was downloaded off of my camera I get the
error message "Photo gallery can't open this picture because you do not have permission to access the file location." I am logged into Windows Vista Home Premium addition as an administrator. Also in the thumbnail view, the thumbnail is not the picture just a blank blue icon. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions? |

I've done as per your reply and the file is located where I think it's
located. Still not allowing me to view my pictures that I have downloaded. "Michael Walraven" wrote: You might get a clue by checking where WPG thinks the file is located. Right click the thumbnail, select Properties, then general tab. The location field will show where the picture is located and that may provide a clue. Michael "Michelle" wrote in message ... You can try PropertiesSecurity and gain permission or ownership to file if
you don't have it. If changing the file's Security Properties doesn't work this workaround might work in your case: 1. Open photo with Windows Paint. 2. Change to different format. 3. Save converted photo to your “editing” folder. 4. Try to open and edit with Photo Gallery. -- oscar ....Right click is your best friend... Thank you, this is allowing me to view my photos. Do you know if there is
something I can change while downloading or if there is a way to gain permission for more than one picture at a time? It is taking me a lot of time to gain permission one by one. I haven’t come up with a workaround for batch files.
You might have to use a software package that originally created or edited your photos because WPG isn’t recognizing the property values of your photos. Best of luck… -- oscar ....Right click is your best friend... "Michelle" wrote: Thank you, this is allowing me to view my photos. Hi, I hope this helps...when Windows prompts me error message: "you do not
have permission to access the file location", I turn off/uncheck User Account Control (UAC); go to Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, User Accounts, Turn User Account Control On or Off, Uncheck Box, OK, pop-up box will prompt you to restart your computer to apply theses changes, select Restart Now. After your computer restarts you should be able to access the file. This also works for Software Downloads. You can turn on UAC when you are done with file or downloading, again you will need to restart computer to apply changes. ~Tina Z. "oscar" wrote: I haven’t come up with a workaround for batch files.
