Thanx Hi *Beemer* could you fill us in with a little more information? What kind of video are talking about? A dvd? If you download the VLC player at the following site you will find it does almost any video, including DVD's 'VLC Media Player - Download' (http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/) Let us know how you make out. -- dbknox |

WMP won't play movie dvd's, .wmv sent as email attchment.
I'd kinda like to WMP up and running correctly rather than have a stand alone program. I've checked the file associations but I couldn't find a way to repair WMP. I have this very problem as well, and it's also effecting WinDVD player. I think messing with the MPEG-2 decoder messed things up now. I've been trying to get help with this but my posts go unanswered. Here's a copy from another place with pictures: The problem is all I get is a blank screen, shown here with the white backround and the black box of any video of any file type I play using WMP 11 for example please view my screenshot: http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/9696/80752975vt1.jpg here is another screen shot of a different file showing same thing but different file and size of the video: http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/8771/11xk0.jpg Again, I can hear sound just fine but video seems to be turned off in WMP 11. I've been trying and trying and hoping that there is something simple I'm overlooking here to get it working again. This problem affects web players and programs that use WMP as well so if I can fix WMP, the other programs should be restored to normal. Now I do use VLC for everything and made that the default player but I still need WMP especially for the web. Hope we can figure this out, thanks. -- Socomwiz |

Thanx Since the Vista Codec scene is awful, I use the Vista Codec Pack made by Shark007 http://shark007.net/ He's taken every working Vista compatible codec and rolled them into one tight self installing package that WORKS!!! This is a LifeSaver for us 64bit Vista users because the codecs for 64bit are absolutely Frustrating...until Shark007 decided to do something about it. I've been using it for a year now and LOVE it, so do 100's of 1000's of other Vista users. Constantly Updated and Upgraded and the User forum posts are constantly answered by the author. He takes all input into account and makes whatever changes he can, he's super committed to this pack and it shows in this lightweight package and the ToolKit he's also put together. Dave |
