If you have a standard Vista dvd you can perform an in-place-upgrade to repair the system. It sounds like you may be at that point. You start from the Vista desktop by inserting the dvd, clicking Install Now, and choosing the Upgrade install option when presented. Please run a virus and spyware scan first and then turn off your antivirus before starting the in-place-upgrade. You will not have to reistall your apps but you should do a backup. If your dvd is not at service pack 1 and you have SP1 on the computer, you need to uninstall SP1 before the upgrade as well. |
