Default Sleep mode - used to work perfectly

I have a Vista Ultimate SP1 machine that used to go to sleep and wake up
flawlessly. I could enter sleep manually or automatically. However, I
recently installed a couple of applications and now the machine will not
enter sleep automatically but it does work if manually performed. The apps
were an HP monitor software suite, VLC (which didnt run under my vista and
was removed) and AlSee. I notice that the drive activity light on the PC
panel flashes once every second (I don't think it was doing that before).
I've uninstalled the HP software and Alsee and it still isn't working like it
used to. Suggestions on how to determine what is keeping the PC alive and
not letting it enter sleep mode?

Hi Sand,

You can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before you
installed the programs to see if it can fix the problem. This tutorial
will show you how to if needed.

Hope this helps,
