I am looking for help with installing the print driver for Samsung ML-2010
onto my laptop that is running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. When I tried to install the driver on my laptop, all I got was an error message saying that "The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers" I also have a desktop that is running the 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium. When I plugged the printer into the desktop, I had no problems installing the print driver. If both computers are running 64 bit version of Vista, shouldn't the print driver work with both. |

This is the usual reference for this problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931719 Are you sure that the notebook is running 64 bit Vista and not 32? Just a thought. I don't know of any Notebooks/Laptops that actually are supplied with the 64 bit version. Of course, that leaves aside a custom order or a later change. -- Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 "Ben" wrote in message ... Thanks for the help Tom, unfortunately, I am still trying to resolve the
issue. I double checked my laptop and it is running the 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate. Since the print driver works on the 64 bit version of Home Premium, why won't it work on my laptop? Are you sure it is the correct driver? It might be worth downloading the 64
bit Vista driver again and re-trying. Possibly the install files have become corrupted. The error message you are getting suggests that the driver you are attempting to install is for a different Windows version. -- Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 "Ben" wrote in message ... I found out that the driver that the computer was trying to install was for
the 32 bit version. I deleted the driver and tried reinstalling it from the Samsung website, only to get the same result. I even tried to install the printer as a network printer thinking that since the driver worked on my desktop, then it would work on my laptop. I still wasn't able to install the print driver getting the same error message. Is there anything else I can try or am I just S.O.L.? "Tom Ferguson" wrote: Are you sure it is the correct driver? If you cannot locate a 64 bit Samsung driver for the printer, check for a
Dell Laser Printer 1100 driver for Vista 64. -- Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 "Ben" wrote in message ... I found out that the driver that the computer was trying to install was for the 32 bit version. This is supposed to be the Vista driver 32,64 bit. However, perhaps it is
the same as the one you tried. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...isp_nm=ML-2010 -- Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 "Ben" wrote in message ...
