Default Missing shortcut to downloaded avi file

Sometimes when I have downloaded an AVI file it does not appear in the
selected location. If I do a file search everywhere on the computer it is not
found. If I click on the the link in Recent Items on the Start page I get a
Missing Shortcut popup, and a search which never finds anything. Yet the file
has definitely downloaded and surely must be on the computer somewhere. Does
anyone know what is happening and how I can solve it? I would be really
grateful if anyone can help.

The file may have been downloaded to a Temporary file which may be well
hidden and difficult for Search to find. Try downloading the file again and
this time choose Open. Let the file play on the WMP. On the playlist, right
click the file and choose Open File Location.

Do you have a fast connection? Sounds like the
downloads are being terminated...maybe you
need a download manager.

Thanks for your suggestion. In fact I did try that, but the file still didn't
show up in the location.

Thanks for your reply, but it isn't that. In fact I installed Internet
Download Manager to try and solve the problem but the same thing happens. The
only difference is that the files stay in the Internet Download Manager
window after being downloaded and they can be opened from there and viewed..
But they still don't show up in the location that IDM says they are stored
in. I also tried right-clicking them in Windows Media Player and saving them
to another location - nothing happened.

Once again I ask...do you have a fast
internet connection or are you on dialup?

Would it be possible for you to post a
link to one the the .avi files that you are
having issues with?
