Default Video editing software to adjust contrast, brightness etc.

Have several AVI clips that were shot in less then optimum conditions. I am familiar with editing still images and making great improvements in them visually by adjusting contrast, color saturation, brightness, sharpness, etc.

Is there avi editing software (freeware?) that can do similar editing?

Sony Vegas edits just about any audio or video file format and outputs just
about any file format and has an infinite number of transitions, effects and
repair tools. You can download a 30-days-for-free-no-obligation-no-limitation
demo version of the consumer SD, consumer SD/HD, or Pro SD/HD Vegas from this
link: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/...egasfamily.asp

After installing the version of your choice (consumer SD will work fine) and
importing your AVI file, install the Plug-in called Brightness and Contrast,
and use the drop-down menu for preset or manual controls. I believe you will
be able to salvage your AVI files.
