Default VPN Connection: Windows Cannot find server

Hi,
I can connect to my workplace VPN and I can ping the server by IP Address
and name. When I type the network path in explorer address bar
"\\servername.domain.com" I get "Windows Cannot find {\\path}. Check the
spelling and try again.
This is Vista Business edition. Any help is much appreciated
