Default Slow Internet Cooection Sharing Sppeds

Hello All:

I have a Compaq Laptop running Vista Home Premium SP1 connected to an
IBM Thinkpad running XP Prol SP1 using 'Internet Connection Sharing'
active on the Vista machine. The actual connection can be either via a
wired USB Network adapter, or alternatively via inbuilt wireless adapter
on both Vista PC and XP machine. Vista PC is connected to the internet
via 20Mbs cable modem (network connected). The problem is:

Cable connection tests to internet show regular transer speeds
approaching 20Mbs. However, the XP machine connection to internet (via
vista ICS connection) never goes above 5Mbs download speed.

Any observations on this will be appreciated.

The wired USB Network adapter and inbuilt wireless adapters might not
be capable of speeds above 5Mbs.

If possible, I recommend getting a wireless router and using it to
share the cable connection between your computers. That's a better
solution than using Internet Connection Sharing.
