Default MAt****a dvd-ram uj-8505 ata not working

HI I am having massive problems with my dvd drive, a while ago it
started refusing to burn audio cd's for me, tbh I didnt do anything
about it at the time. More recently it is now refusing to play any
dvd's or normal audio cds, progams or games.

The auto run does not even start. If I go into my computer I can see
the dvd drive but if I click on it it trys to tell me that the drive is
empty even if I have just put a disk in.

I have ran anti virus, adware, driver checks, uninstalled the device
and I am now totally out of ideas. Just thought I would ask for help
from some of you a lot more tech minded than myself before I admit
defeat and take it into pc world for fixing lol.

Please can anyone helping keep instructions to laymans terms as I am
not very tech savy.

Thanks
Vicky

What is the model number of the drive? TBH Mat-****-a drives are
typically known to be what has been censored out.

I wouldn't bother with getting it fixed, it's cheaper to get a new one.

Where would I find the model number hon? Sorry :-/

I personally think it just needs a new drive but when I mentioned it to
dad he went mad at me said it was only out of guarentee two months ago .
blah blah blah. like its his money that I am going to spend. so I
thought I would double check all avenues before I take it up to pc
world.

It does not play cd's. they all turn in the drive but nothing ever
happens.

I wouldnt know where to start changing a dvd drive ... I should do took
a course on fixing a pc last year ha ha.

Download Imgburn and open it in Write mode. Then go to Tools - Drive
- Capabilities then post a screenshot of that window here (Alt+prtsc).
You can also click the radio button there that says "check for firmware
updates" to see if any are available for your drive. Is this in a
laptop or a desktop?

Torz, I would try a different DVD drive. They are throw away products.
You can pick on up for under £30.

Any brand of dvd drive will replace what you have. Several on line
stores offer free shipping. And yes less than $30.00 bucks. I assume it
is not a laptop. If so that would be different. It is so simple to
change. What brand of pc do you have? Someone can give you instructions
or point you to information on a web site that shows how to replace.
