Default Internal HD showing as write protected???

My data HD periodically shows up as write protected. I have no idea why
as it works sometimes. Sometimes, it goes away after a reboot. It also
goes away if I format the drive. However, it returns after a day or two
and becomes an intermittent problem.

Does/has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix?

i have same problem with external usb drive. And in settings it is
clearly without protection.

I switched it to other usb port and now it works, but clearly there is
a problem. I have asus p5b deluxe mobo.

I will write here if the problem returns.

I contacted MS and was told to disable all non-microsoft startup items.
After rebooting, it's working. Then I re-enabled only the things that I
had to have and it has been working so far. I'll wait and see if the
problem returns.

Try to disable 5 to 10 non-Microsoft items & then try to isolate the
issue. When you get it isolated, please update that on this website.

Hi,
Here's the solution to your issues.
The next time one of your drives goes read-only, close all your windows
explorer windows, open an elevated command prompt and type:

C:\path\to\anywhere fsutil volume dismount h:

(replace "h:" with the appropriate drive letter.)

This dismounts the volume; the next time you access that drive (h: or
whatever), the volume is remounted, "usually" read-write. No need to reboot.

I have this issue due to the jmicron controller embedded in my Gigabyte
motherboard.
I even created a batch file, which I run as admin, to avoid typing the
command sequence.
