Default problems with external hard drive

Hey, I'm having some problems with my Rock mobile disk external hard
driver. Maybe somebody can help?

I have an external hard drive that I use to store all my music on (I
just moved all my music from iTunes on there a few weeks ago). It was
working fine and all of a sudden it doesn't show up at all on my Windows
Vista even though it used to. It used to not show up on my disk
management, but I contacted windows vista help (they told me to
uninstall my USB root hubs). Now it shows up in disk management
(sometimes with an error, sometimes not), but I can't access the files.
It's really important that I don't lose the files on this drive.

I have another copy of a Rock external hard drive and I got it to work,
but the one with my music files still doesn't. There was some error that
popped up about my USB (I think saying something about using too much
power?) when I plug in the external drive with my files on it. But when
I plug in my drive, it's the only USB thing plugged in to my laptop and
my other external hard drive works fine.

Thanks for any help.

try reinstalling your chipset drivers, and changing your power options
to high performance.
also try testing that external hard drive on another computer to see if
you can access the files.

Thanks for replying. I figured out how to change the power option, but
how do you reinstall your chipset drivers? (and what exactly are chipset
drivers)

I had the same problem. I turned off the device, not unplugged, and it
was recognized when it was turned on again.
