hi,
well this is what happened: i uninstalled NAV at 1930, installed Avast instead. I havent run any registry cleaner yet, i'll do that later... but now i've got a problem for some reason around 00:00 my IE stopped working. so did firefox. i thought my internet connection was down, therefore i was surprised to find i could login to windows live messenger. no matter what i did, IE or FF wouldn't work. so i restarted the machine around 0045, and everything went back to normal. then same thing happened at 01:20, so i've restarted and come back here. i dont know how long it's going to last so i'll type this quickly i dont know whats happened. IE and FF won't work, it's just stuck, it says connecting but the green bar takes absolutely ages and hardly moves. yet strangely, Messenger works. i also turned on bit torrent to see if that would work, and it was actually downloading normally. its extraordinary, i have no idea whats going on if anyone at all can help, please do contribute, i'll be very grateful. thankyou "Flight" wrote: "puthp" schreef in bericht ... "Flight" wrote: Well I can assure you that NAV IS the problem. It's a well known fact. Use something else, Avira for instance (there is a free version) and use Windows Washer to get things corrected. I can assure you that the problems are over. IE is in fact quicker than Firefox. I have both so I can compare. Hi Flight, I like your confidence, my NAV subscription ran out today so I'll get rid of it. But why do you want me to use Windows Washer? Past experience of using it resulted in it doing as much damage as good? Well, you must know what you're doing. I installed the newest version in Vista and it works marvellous. Be it that you know how to use the settings. But the results are a much quicker Vista. IE starts within half a second with four startpages. That says enough I presume. |

hi,
well the problem was i had already uninstalled NAV using the Control Panel ("Programs & Features" aka add/remove prog in XP). when i did that NAV's own un-installer came on screen and removed it anyway, i already tried re-setting IE and that made no difference. so now i've installed that Norton removal tool and run it, it took about a minute only, i presume it removed just bits that NAV left over, but it hasn't helped. So every hour I have to restart the computer because of IE and FF stopping working. what should i do now? anyone who can please help |
