Default sata pci card for vista

Hi guys,

I got a cheap sata pci card for my hdd and dvdrw but it is giving me problem
during installation of vista.
When vista ask for the sata card driver I point to the floppy disk with my
sii sata card driver (possibly sii3112)

but Vista keep saying it is not compatible. I downloaded this driver sii web
site where it says vista driver.

anyway, my question is, do you know any sata pci card that vista knows and
installs the driver for it?

I am looking for cheaper sata cards for my home computer.

thanks
Cemal

Hi Cemal,

Your existing card should probably work. Without knowing the exact model of
your card, I cannot confirm this.

Try using the driver currently on Windows Update during installation. You
can search for the driver package using the Microsoft Update Catalog.

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...spx?q=SII+3112

If you can plug the device into another system and get the hardwareIDs
(devmgmt.msc -- device properties -- details tab -- "Hardware IDs" and
"Compatible IDs"), the exact driver for you device can be found.

You can't guess. Identify the chip that the card uses, and obtain the
Vista driver for it.
