Default Virus and other Malware protection

Does anyone have recommendations for virus/malware protection for Vista x64?
I don't like Norton 360. I've been testing Kaspersky AV 2009, but I was
wondering what other people have been happy with. I prefer solutions that
leave a small resource footprint and don't bother me every 15 seconds.

Thanks in advance.

- and don't choose the AVG toolbar. (unless you'd like to)
Otherwise, it's worked well for me.

free.avg.com. Works well for me and worked well on previous AMD64. The
trick is to choose the custom install and NOT pick the options for email
checking.
