HP 1610 all in one scanner problems
Can ANYONE help ? I have spent the last 2 days trying to resolve a problem with the scanner - "failure to communicate with software" followed by "failure to comunicate with scanner" messages. HP admit they have a problem, but having spent the best part of yesterday communicating with them - notably with their chat service - which I wouldn't recommend as they don't even read what you send to them. I am looking for a scanning solution - yes, I can use windows gallery but it is rubbish and I need quality for professional reasons and I need to batch scan documents for archiving purposes. I thought of xSane which in Linux does infinitely better than HP anyway but I can't get it to work... Any propositions welcome ! Furhtermore in all the installing and uninstalling I have lost my wallpaper, thumbnails and sexy dossier icons (with the pages on) - I have enabled evrything I am told to but no luck... maybe I picked up a virus with reboots and the like but none of the suite of kit I have has thrown anything up (Avast, Commodo, Hijack this, Spybot and so on) This may be a new thread... -- old_nick |

HP 1610 all in one scanner problems
Try Vuescan (www.hamrick.com), many users have had great success with ths.
It has a trial version (fully functional) so you can see if it works for you before purchase. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/windows "old_nick" wrote in message ... HP 1610 all in one scanner problems
I found the answer by chance !!! For the scanner anyway. HP scanners have a problem working on Vista if you use a stylus / tablet device such as Wacom Graphire. There is a conflict between HP software and Microsofts tabletPC. The patch necessary can be got HERE 'HP Answers: Scanner Communication Error In Windows Vista and the tablet PC patch' (http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2008/0...n-windows.html) Afterwards it seems to work... -- old_nick |

Forgot to say that it is a pity that noone at HP thought to ask me if I used a tablet and it is nowhere in there documentation online -- old_nick |
