Default Quad core CPU problem

I have had vista sp1 for a while now and have just recived a new Q6600 i
hace installed it and the bios identifies it correctly. However device
manager still thinks I have my E4400 installed see picture...

I am not sure what is wrong or why it thinks I still have my dual core
installed.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks.

Sam.

Default Quad core CPU problem

There is a Microsoft support file on this issue. Apparently it's reading
from the registry, and doesn't update correctly.

'Device Manager does not show updated processor information on a
Windows Vista-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer'

Simple fix really, just uninstall the processor and reinstall the
drivers and that should fix it.

Thanks for your reply. Before you amde that post i had already found
that uninstalling the processor could make it redetect it.

And the reason it was only picking up 2 cores was because I only had 2
cores neabled in the bios.

Thanks for your help anyway.
