Default Vista error codes

Hi,

I have a PC with came with vista home premium installed. Since February
this year it has refused to update stating code 8024402c. I recently
decided I would carry out a system restore to try and solve this but
computer stated, The filename, directory name of volume label syntax is
incorrect. (0x8007007B) It is driving me nuts. Is there anyway I can
force it to carry out a full restore or will I have to resort to
throwing it out of the window!

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

You waited too long. At this point, I would concentrate on correcting the
cause of the error message for Windows Update. There is free support for
this from Microsoft he

Specifically, this article, though it doesn't mention Vista, may apply:

Thanks for the help. I now have all 40 updates I have missed out on!
Still can't get into System Restore though. Any ideas?

Dave

Hi,

As to System Restore, either the points or the index is corrupt. Disable the
service, then reboot and restart it.
