Hi, I have a PC with came with vista home premium installed. Since February this year it has refused to update stating code 8024402c. I recently decided I would carry out a system restore to try and solve this but computer stated, The filename, directory name of volume label syntax is incorrect. (0x8007007B) It is driving me nuts. Is there anyway I can force it to carry out a full restore or will I have to resort to throwing it out of the window! Thanks Dave -- McDarby1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ McDarby1's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/mcdarby1.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ce/1039675.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

Hi,
You waited too long. At this point, I would concentrate on correcting the cause of the error message for Windows Update. There is free support for this from Microsoft he http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527#tab0 Specifically, this article, though it doesn't mention Vista, may apply: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883821 -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "McDarby1" wrote in message ... Hi,
As to System Restore, either the points or the index is corrupt. Disable the service, then reboot and restart it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "McDarby1" wrote in message ...
