Ok maybe a silly question when I install programs on the C drive Windows installs them either in the Programs Files (86) for the 32 bit and Programs Files for the 64 bit BUT When I install programs on for instance the F drive must I do the same, two folders or doesn't it matter, and use just one folder regardless whether its 32 or 64bit -- shazbot EVGA 132-CK-NF780-A1, BIOS 05 Intel Video Asus EN8800GTX Western Digital Caviar RE 320 Gb * 3 raid 5 Western Digital Caviar RE 250 Gb * 1 Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 1 To * 1 G-Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ (2GB x 2) now not used Corsair 2x4096 - 8500C5DF Monitor SyncMaster 930B(Digital)* 2 Antec Truepower Quattro 850 power supply Vista Business 64bit Noctua NH-U12P Case Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 Azuntech X-Fi Prelude sound card Steelpad keyboard, Logitech G5 Mouse |

If the installer will let you choose a location, you may use any folder on
any drive you choose. Make sure you have rights to that folder. Good luck. "shazbot" wrote in message ... There's some relevance to the location the apps go, but it's not super critical. You're not under any special obligation to use those directories. -- S.SubZero |

It has no impact on the program where you install it.

Except for a select few programs, the location of the program once installed is irrelevant. There are a handful that require installation in the 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86)' folder, but those usually do not give you a choice of which directory to install to. As far as installing to another drive/partition goes, you can install the vast majority in whatever folder you desire. -- tntoak ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tntoak's Profile: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/member.php?userid=96 View this thread: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22393 |
