I am not sure if it is a Vista problem or an XP problem.
I have a Vista machine that has a Sprint broadband card for internet
access and it is working fine.
I have a dlink router connecting my laptop w/ XP to the vista machine.
This is working fine.
On allow access to the internet on the vista machine, turn off allowing
people to control of the enable and disable sharing.

I can access the vista machine and the shared folders with no problem.

I have the internet gateway on the XP machine - it says DISABLED - when
I click on it says CONNECTING and then it never does connect.

I have read, tried, retried everything and I know I am missing
something REALLY stupid and easy
But for the life of me I can not get the XP machine (I actually ahve 2
of them) to connect to the internet thru the VISTA.

What do I need to do?

Assuming you want to setup Vista as router or ICS, that doesn't work because
all XP computers default gateways point to the router not to Vista which
should be the gateway. what you need to do is setup the dlink router as a
switch and use Vista as DHCP assign TCP/IP settings to all XP computers.
