Default LifeCam VX-6000 Stops Working

OK, this is a recurring problem, and it's been driving me nuts for quite a
while. I'll be using my LifeCam VX-6000 to chat with someone, and the thing
will just disconnect. The green light turns off, and the hardware disconnect
sound happens. It will not work again until I physically unplug it from the
USB 2 port and plug it back in. This mostly tends to occur when there's a lot
of motion in front of the lens.

Is this a known issue?

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and use the camera mostly with Live
Messenger. (Although, it occurs with any program using it, so it's unrelated
to Live Messenger.)

Also, though a lesser nuisance, I dislike the way it activates itself
whenever I wake the computer from sleep mode. I leave it unplugged most of
the time for this reason.
