Default Default Programs/Associations

I want to be able to have Gmail (through Firefox 3.0) as my default outgoing
mail program selection. Meaning, I simply want Gmail to be the default mail
program whenever I click on an email address--simple as that.

In attempting to change the default setting associated with my e-mail, I
went to Control Panel Default Programs Set Associations.

Microsoft Outlook is currently the default under the
MAILTO--URLMailToProtocol. Clicking on the Change Program button brings up
the selection of Microsoft Mail, Opera, and Microsoft Outlook. Firefox is
completely missing. This is the case even though Firefox is my Default
browser.

Is there any way that I can get Firefox listed in here and/or any way that I
can get Gmail through Firefox as the default outgoing mail program?

By the way, I've already followed these instructions to the letter:

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...66&topic=13383

Gmail still isn't my default mail client (I'm running Vista); Outlook
2007 -- which I had chosen previously -- is still the default mail
client.

Help!

There is no reason why you cannot use Outlook as your default mail program,
and have it work through your GMail account. The instructions for setting
Outlook to use GMail are on the Gmail help site.

Good luck.
