Hey all,
I'm having some trouble with my brand new computer that I
built. It will install Vista Home Prem x86 just fine with no problems,
but when I tried to install x64 to utilize all of the RAM that I have
for my PC, it just wont install. I keep getting a BSOD when the
installation completes the first portion of the setup, but when I am
supposed to put in all of my information, Name, time, etc., it will BSOD
just before that either giving me an IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD or an
unnamed one. I took out all unneeded hardware, like my second video
card, second hard drive, wireless card, memory card reader, and it is
still giving me the same issues. I have also used two entirely different
installation discs just to see if that was the case, which sadly it
wasn't. If anyone knows what is causing this, please reply back. I hope
this is a really easy fix because I want to use all of my RAM!

You forgot to tell us any of your computer specs, including whether you have
a 64-bit processor. Another thing that has been mentioned when installing
Vista 64-bit is to install with only 2GB of RAM. If this works, put the
additional RAM in afterwards.

Hi,

This often occurs because of memory timing issues if you are using all of
the memory slots. Take out half the sticks and install with the reduced
amount, then reinstall the sticks after setup completes.

Yeah I found out that the RAM was the issue. I think that is kinda
ridiculous that you can't initially install x64 with more than 2GB of
RAM, but thank you very much for help

It depends on the motherboard. It's a problem with the RAM timing with some
motherboards when all the DIMM slots are populated. I think it's been mostly
fixed with SP1. Did your install DVD have SP1 integrated?

that is generally because NOT EVERYONE has the problem.

my ultimate 64 installs just fin with 4gb installed.

This problem affects both 32 and 64 bit versions of Vista.
