All of my programs open without being asked for permission to continue
except Quark Xpress 8. Short of turning off User Access Control how do I
avoid this?

Hello renrut, welcome to the forums, arty:

unfortunately due to the way some programs are written this problem
will come up from time to time. Feedback to the developers will
hopefully solve this in time

in the meantime all is not lost have a look at this method to achive
what you want.

Hi,

Contact the program vendor and ask for a Vista-compatible release. The
program is currently not in accordance with Vista's design parameters which
were established nearly 5 years ago. The software is trying to write to a
protected system folder rather than running virtualized as it should be,
this needs to be fixed by the program's vendors.
