Blu-Ray drive sporadically disappears
For some annoying reason, the Blu-Ray disk drive in my stock HP dv9847ca Notebook (1 month old, so still within warranty) seems to have an odd habit of sporadically disappearing on me - it won't show up in explorer, nor device manager. It does, however, show up in BIOS. The problem I have is that the drive itself seems to have power/etc, and when it -is- showing, it works fine, and only ever seems to disappear when waking from standby. I never get any error messages, Scanning for hardware changes rarely if ever brings it back. I haven't installed any new software onto this system besides Daemon Tools Lite that should have any effect at all on the drive, and as well when the drive disappears it's drive letter is not used, as the drives number C, D, and F. This is Vista SP1, and I think the drive was Mitsubishi, though I'm probably wrong. Lastly, it seems to at random come back without restarting/going back into standby. Does anyone have any suggestions for what my problem may be, and how I might be able to fix it? -- Sukasa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sukasa's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/sukasa.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-har...es/1046476.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

Blu-Ray drive sporadically disappears
It might have a loose cable try taking the dirive out and dusting it with a lint free cloth and plugging all of the connections back in the correct place. -- jammmie999 |

Blu-Ray drive sporadically disappears
That should fix the issue. And you can also check if the drive disappears if you run any specific programs. -- tanuj_chadha Tanuj History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce. - Karl Marx :geek: |

Blu-Ray drive sporadically disappears
The drive seems to mainly disappear when I said, it doesn't seem linked to any particular software. Unfortunately, I can't fix any cabling issues; that would void my warranty, and I need to keep that so I can get an issue with the LCD screen fixed (normal wear from opening the screen a lot is causing a couple of loose wires in rare instances). I will, however, keep that in mind when I get around to submitting a warranty request... which I can only do once I've got a section of time where I don't need this laptop for university :sigh: -- Sukasa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sukasa's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/sukasa.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-har...es/1046476.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
