Hello Everybody, I have the famous crcdsk.sys issue. I recently departitioned my Hard Drive and then repartitioned it and formatted. I reinstalled windows VISA Home Premium and it will not finish the installation process. When it's suppose to be starting for the first time it all of a sudden blue screens and restarts. The blue screen and restart happens so fast so I can't see what error code its sending out. I tried to load safe mode and thats when I said the system crashed when loading the crcdsk.sys file! [image: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/emo...emotion-6.gif] I have replaced hard drive and tried a different vista dvd to install the OS and still same problem. I called my computer manufacturer for assistance they they were no help AT ALL. They are couriering me a new HD, RAM, and Vista CD and said try that. [image: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/emo...emotion-6.gif] Could somebody please help me. I have googled this topic for days and everybody has this problem or a variation of it but no resolutions are posted. I managed to get into vista 1 time randomly when after i restore the bios settings to default... but then never again did it work even if i restore the default settings. From what I learned so far it seems to be a driver related issue.. I believe vista during its setup is trying to install some sort of driver for something and its causing the blue screen. I have no clue what driver or what the hardware piece is that is causing the crash. Any suggestions .. please help... it been a week and my laptop has become an overpriced door stop. _SYSTEM_SPECS:_ Dell XPS M1730 Core 2 Duo T9500 2.6ghz 4GB Ram 667mhz 200gb Seagate HD 7200rpm Vista Home Premium 32bit 8800M GTX SLI Thank you, -- azenus |

Most of the time this has been related to the video card. If you have
access to an old video card you should put it in just for the install or in your case for the boot. You indicate you did get up once. You may be lucky and still be able to use the last known good to get on. The first thing you always need to do after you boot up is to change the default in system properties to not automatically reboot. This allows the system to freeze on the blue screen and you can get diagnostic data. "azenus" wrote in message ... Hello Everybody, I have the famous crcdsk.sys issue. * C R C D I S K . S Y S e r r o r * ::This issue is quickly resolved by pairing your sata devices. *Example: *Hard drive 1 on SATA 1 and Hard drive 2 on SATA 2 then Optical drive 1 on SATA 3 and Optical drive 2 on SATA 4. NOTE: It is very important to keep your Hard Drives together and HDD 1 should always be SATA 1:: -- mansrm81 If you think I helped you fix your problem give me some rep . |

I only have 1 HD and 1 CD/DVD rom drive. Dell Bios is garbage and I cannot adjust the way its paired. Do you know of another way? or maybe a way to unlock a more customizable version of the bios with Dell Laptops. -- azenus |

How did you partition and format the drive? If you used a third party
utility this may be the problem. During the Vista install delete the partition, recreate it, then install to the Vista created partition. -- Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience: Systems Administration http://www.vistahelp.ca/phpBB2/ http://vistahelpca.blogspot.com/ "azenus" wrote in message ...
