dvd-cd drive doesn't recognize certain cdrom disks
I'm using Vista Business Service Pack 1 upgrade, and certain games or
software on cd do not get detected on my laptop. SONY Vaio SZ430W Dual Core2 t7200 2.00gHz 2gRam 32bit OS NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-842S ATA. I can run games like Oblivion or Morrowind with no problems, but can't load Fable (or a couple other disks - but Fable is my need now). I can watch DVDs too. The computer doesn't even recognize there's a disk inserted into the drive. It won't allow explore or open from right click. A window tries to open but is immediately closed. I've checked the drivers but it says they're up to date. I've looked for solutions like the driver update that have been suggested, but get the message that it doesn't apply to my system after downloading. I have no idea what to do next. Since Fable and Vista are both MS products shouldn't they work together or at least have a patch? |
