Default LifeCam VX5000 Controls Question

LifeCam VX5000 Software Ver 2.04.542.0 running on Vista Home Premium Ver
6 SP1 using Microsoft Live Messenger.
Question; I cannot operate any controls for my camera under the "Life
Cam Controls" at the bottom of the panel that pops up when you click the
gear wheel icon on the Micro LifeCam screen. No zoom or pan. The package
clearly said these features were included with the camera.
I cannot operate any of the controls under the "Properties" button
sitting under the "Adjust the LifeCam advanced settings" either.
I did sign up/register/join Windows Live Messenger before I installed
the camera. I did install the software CD first then the camera when
directed to. Got no error messages on the install either.
Every thing else seems OK. I set up a family member in Dallas with an
identical configuration and we connect with fair picture and good sound.
Am I doing something wrong or am I under a wrong impression about the
functions of the camera ?
I can live with what I have but would like to know if I am misssing
something.

Default LifeCam VX5000 Controls Question

I would like to follow up one time on my post from a week ago.
I have received no comment or replies and am wondering if the cause is
that no one has any information or have I just asked a stupid question
and can't see the obvious.
If it is the latter , apologies to the group (smile).

Default LifeCam VX5000 Controls Question

I contacted MS Support via telephone at the number listed in the LifeCam
Help screens.
Good news- got through promptly, connected with a service tech rep who
was competent, got camera controls working on first try. Used MS Easy
Assist to allow rep to operate my machine from India and I really liked
this service.
Bad news- one sentence could have been printed on package or install
instructions or right in the program controls comments to avoid the
whole damn problem. Pan, Tilt and Zoom DO NOT WORK when the camera
resolution is set to highest option. At a medium or low resolution
setting the controls are bright and functional. At the higest resolution
the pan tilt and zoom buttons are grayed out.

Go figger.
