Default New Setup Vista SP1?

Hi all,

a few days ago I've downloaded Vista SP1 via MSDN. While setup runs I
think I've seen a difference to setup without SP1. The screen was black
with a white text saying what setup does for the moment.

I'm sure that this screen is new. Does anyone know somthing about it?
Are there (other) changes in setup?

Peter

Hi Peter,

Yes, I have noticed the difference too when installing SP1 integrated
(Technet/MSDN) - the first part of the install is the "normal" Vista
install, then the "magic" happens that installs the SP1 bits, which is why
you see the white text on black background part. There is a lot happening
behind-the-scenes which does not happen on a plain vanilla Vista install.

Unlike XP, there is no straightforward way of integrating SP1 into Vista for
the end user unless they wish to play around with utilities such as v-lite.

What you're seeing is quite normal for Vista with SP1 integrated.

Hi Jane,

ooh, that's the "problem"! ;-)

I thought SP1 is integrated and there is no silent installation of SP1
and the installation like XP looks the same.

Thanks for the information!

Peter
