RPGexpert, Your CPU usage depends largly on how much you have running at one time. You must also consider all of the background services that Vista is running to. The more you have running, the higher the average CPU usage is. It should not have an affect on the lag time unless you start maxing out your CPU towards 100%. -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Windows 7 Forums*' (http://www.sevenforums.com/) *and* '*::Vista Forums::*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.* |

Alright was just wondering but thats Idle CPU time also I just watch the performance when nothing is running and its around 20 to 30, but hardly if ever have I seen it go up to 100% so I guess everything is alright. Thanks again Brink sorry for reviving an old thread ha ha -- RPGexpert |

No problem RPGexpert, 20 to 30% is a bit high for idle. You might check in '*Resource Monitor*' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/11...e-monitor.html) under the CPU category to see what all is using the CPU when you are idle. -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Windows 7 Forums*' (http://www.sevenforums.com/) *and* '*::Vista Forums::*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.* |

have you resolved this problem? I have the same situation here my conf is: intel q6600 gigabyte p35-ds3r 2x2 GB Geil Asus gf6800gt Sound Blaster Audigy 2 150gb raptor(jmicronSATA), 2x500gb wd windows xp x64 works fine, but in vista ultimate x64 everything is so choppy like you said, but not only aero, all 3d programs-games as well, sometimes I also get some artefacts in opera and firefox. I tried several versions of nvidia drivers, different bios versions including latest f13a, memory configurations-single and dual channel, 6gb and 8gb, and it was even worse. Only solution that I could find is to set manually maximum memory in msconfig to 3584. After that everything works perfectly, no matter if I put 4,6 or 8gb in mobo. Can anyone tell me what is this about?? Ill try to remove audigy tomorrow, to see if maybe that is the cause. -- zombix |

Yeah my speed issues seemed to be resolved, but after vista did a few more updates I started getting errors like crazy on just about everything. Yahoo messenger even crashed my computer everytime I opened it because of DEP. And I even turned DEP on and off as admin over and over and restarted but I could never access it to change any options in it. So overall after all this... I've reformatted installed vista AND XP and am currently dual booting both. I'm on XP right now but I'll switch over to vista once I feel its finally fixed... which will probably be never. -- RPGexpert |
