Dear Sir/Madame:
Within the past several days I downloaded SKYPE and since that time, I seem to be plagued with a single telephone ring, sometimes two QUICK rings. These telephone rings seem to take place every 30 seconds (or so) and every time I close an application. Even more baffling, even after a fresh boot or in the morning after the computer has been left TURNED OFF all night long and before loading SKYPE, my computer emits these annoying telephone rings. I have also MUTED all sounds in SKYPE and after rebooting the computer, my computer is still emitting telephone rings. The MUTE ALL SOUNDS in Skype has been left turned on so now I know that the problem is with Windows Vista. It's driving me bats when I listen to music on the computer! Any ideas on how to fix this? Try this - START | Control Panel | click on classic view (top-left) | Click on Sounds - the Sounds screen will appear | click on the Sounds Tab Scroll through list and look for Skype - click on Test for each entry found until you locate the ringing - then change it to no sound or alternate sound.
