i have a new Laptop with Vista Home Premium. Aero works OK when the Guest
Account is Logged on but will not work for me in my Administrator Account - all settings etc. are correct but when I set to Aero it reverts to Vista Basic. Any suggestions? -- Tony Burke |

There's probably some software running that disables it. Stuff like Java still calls the legacy APIs for drawing graphics which makes Windows fallback to the old mode. If you hit Start and type 'Defender' Windows Defender should pop up, from there you can use the 'Software Explorer' (under Tools) to try disabling any applications that are running on login. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. Any suggestions? In addition to Paul's reply two security issues: You should not run as an administrator on a daily basis and neither should you have enabled the Guest account...... |

In addition to Paul's reply two security issues: You should not run as an administrator on a daily basis and neither should you have enabled the Guest account...... I believe all the crap about the Guest account being insecure has been debunked. |
