Would appreciate advice or comments. I have a pre installed OEM Vista Ultimate 64 bit OS on an ASUS Motherboard with AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.6 GHz and 8 MB Ram. There are two 250 GB Hard discs set up as a Mirror Raid Despite assurances from my software supplier my main software will not run on the 64 bit system and as alternatives are prohibitive in cost, reluctantly I will need to install the 32 bit system, until they re write the software. I have purchased a full version of Vista Ultimate which hopefully (when it arrives)has both systems on the disc. I have backed up Data. What next? Do I need to copy drivers or any other disc information? Do I need to modify the Rais array to reinstall? Do I need to re format the hard disc completely or will a reinstall from the CD drive remove the existing 64 bit system. I am going to conatct my computer suppliers about this but would like to be able to ask appropriate questions and have a little background knowledge and info before I do. Thanks in anticipation. -- Tricky Dicky |

Since you now have two Vista licenses, if you just have one particularly broken piece of software and it doesn't need to interact directly with hardware, you can install Virtual PC and run a 32-bit/x86 version of Vista within Virtual PC, while keeping your main OS x64. Also be aware that your 8 GB (assuming you meant GB) of RAM will largely go to waste in x86, if you're lucky you'll see a little over 3GB of RAM, the rest will be completely unused. |
