I keep reading about licensing issues. I want to know if you crash your
computer, therefore, change motherboards or Harddrive.... if you can re-install Vista 32 bit Operating System? Is there a trick to this or can you simply re-install as you can in Windows XP. Thanks |

Hi JCO I keep reading about licensing issues. I want to know if you crash your computer, therefore, change motherboards or Harddrive.... if you can re-install Vista 32 bit Operating System? Is there a trick to this or can you simply re-install as you can in Windows XP. If you change a significant part of your system and then re-install it is likely that the automatic activation of Vista will fail. With the nature of modern motherboards it may well be that changing this alone will trigger this "feature". However if you use the telephone activation option and explain what has happened to the MS operator they will supply an activation code. I have not heard of anyone in this situation being refused -- barman58 Regards, *Nigel* the beginning of knowledge is the discovery of something we do not understand.,- frank herbert |

Not sure if it's an OEM. It's for a student (my son) who was able to
purchase his version through the school at an incredibly cheap amount. Students, as his school, are allowed a single purchase of course. Thanks for the information (both) "DL" address@invalid wrote in message ... Excepting perhaps if Vista is an OEM & locked to the origonal motherboard "barman58" wrote in message ... Had to get new puter after mobo/cpu meltdown.
Re-installed my OEM copy of Vista Ultimate and activated with no problems - no need to call MS. "JCO" wrote in message ... I keep reading about licensing issues. It appears to be only the power supply. New one should come on Monday and we will install it. So I guess I was jumping the gun but glad to be prepared..... in case the issue was worse than it is.
