Last Known Good Config - black screen with a curser
Vista DVD - black screen with a curser(no access to vista install dvd)
Xp Install DVD - works fine (have no Floppy drive so cant install Sata

Ultimate Boot Cd - black screen with a curser
Linux Boot CD (Back Track 3) - boots fine from cd and can view/access

any vista based software will not work it just produces a black screen

You did not read what the installer said:

Drivers may be loaded from floppy, cd , dvd or USB flash drive...
so Vista no longer requires the SATA drivers to be on a floppy.

BTW: Vista can also load the drivers from any other supported HD
so a USB external HD should also work
