Install BOTH 32bit and 64bit Vista on SAME machine with only 1 license??
Is it possible to purchase a 32bit version of Vista, then order the 64bit
version (I'm told this can be ordered for free, plus shipping)... Using the same key that was given with the purchased 32bit version, you could then install the 64bit version on the SAME PC as the 32bit version... Is this possible?? To have both the 32bit and 64bit versions running on the same PC with you only needing to purchase a single copy of Vista? Thanks! |

Install BOTH 32bit and 64bit Vista on SAME machine with only 1 license??
If activation pairs the product key to a hardware profile, why would it not
work if both are installed on the same machine? Because the second installation negates the first as legal since you are
using the same key. "Robert Leonard" wrote in message ... If activation pairs the product key to a hardware profile, why would it not work if both are installed on the same machine? In order to install 64-bit version, you agree to revoke the 32-bit key. -- SCSIraidGURU Michael A. McKenney 'www.SCSIraidGURU.com' (http://www.SCSIraidGURU.com) |

Install BOTH 32bit and 64bit Vista on SAME machine with only 1 lic
2 installs; 2 licences.
And before you ask it: Putting the 64bit in a VM will not work either. Same number of licences needed: 2 -- Mad Mike "Robert Leonard" wrote: Is it possible to purchase a 32bit version of Vista, then order the 64bit version (I'm told this can be ordered for free, plus shipping)... Install BOTH 32bit and 64bit Vista on SAME machine with only 1 license??
Okay, thanks! I wasn't trying to get around it, rather trying to understand
the wording Microsoft uses.. I read the following, and wasn't clear by what they meant when they say "you can reinstall Windows on the same computer as many times as you want".. I thought it must mean you start over.. 1 copy.. but then I thought, if the hardware didn't change, could you put on multiple copies on the same PC. I thought I read someplace that Microsoft will let you run virtual copies of the same license on the same hardware.. again, that is just what I recall reading and may not be accurate at all.. Here is the link to the text I was looking at... http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...b48b51033.mspx "Robert Leonard" wrote in message ... I'd just install the 64bit version and give it a test with all your H/W and applications. If it works fine, then go ahead and activate it. Otherwise, format the drive and install the 32bit version |
