Default Network icon indicates disabled network

I'm using Vista Business SP1. My network icon indicates that the network is
either disabled or disconnected. I've read Knowledge base 928896 - I have
checked that I am not logging in using the Guest account (it is disabled). I
am logging in using the admin account. The network is in fact working. How
can get the network icon to report accurately?

Hi
It looks like you have Wire and Wireless Network card.
The Wireless looks like it working, the wire disconnected.

Can I assume the "network icon indicates that the network is either disabled
or disconnected" because the wired NIC doesn't connect to the network, but
you are using wireless?

I had the same Problem but with a wired connection. I disabled then renabled
and everything seems to be working now. Why would this problem occur? Thanks
for the help.

If it's the icon for the hard wired connection and you only use the
wireless, you can disable it.

Right click on the icon
Choose Network adn Sharing Center
click Manage Network Connections (upper left)
Right click on Local Area Connection (NOT your wireless connection)
choose Disable from the right click menu

You will need to re-enable it if you decide to use the hardwired
connection some time.
