Hello! I just got a new laptop (Gateway M6864-FX, 4GB ram, vista 64-bit home premium, intel core 2 duo, 2 ghz). Starting the week after I installed my most frequently used programs (Mozilla Firefox, AIM 6.8...and somewhere in there I installed Microsoft Silverlight) it started to freeze. It would be randomly, in the middle of anything, so I decided to re-install my most frequently used programs in compatibility mode for Vista 32-bit. I also uninstalled Silverlight/disabled it from running in Mozilla. The problem went away for 5 days, but froze once last night, and once this morning upon starting the computer. I'm wondering if there are any known occurrences of silverlight causing vista 64-bit to freeze? Thanks for any help! -- danllrr |

It's certainly possible, but I'd think a better way to find out what the problem is (since you haven't had it long and it's still under warranty) would be to reset the machine to out-of-the-box condition using the recovery utility. Leave it that way for a while to make sure you haven't had a hardware failure, then SLOWLY add the programs you like - one at a time - and see how things go. Patience is obviously called for here.
