I know that I can move my profile's folders (Documents, Images, Music
etc) where I want them to by right click Properties Location Move. Well, I accidentally moved the Favorites folder from my profile to the root folder of D: and not to D:\Favorites (a folder I had created for that reason). Is there a way to move them back to the place I want (D:\Favorites)? -- Please remove hyphens to contact me ----- --- -- -- - geotso ----- --- -- -- - |

Hello Geotso, You can use Method Two (steps 2 to 6) in the tutorial below to change the location to what you wanted it to be in the registry to fix it. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...-location.html However, changing the default location of the "C:\Users\(User Name)\Favorites" folder will usually cause Favorites in IE7 to no longer work. Hope this helps, Shawn geotso;872947 Wrote: I know that I can move my profile's folders (Documents, Images, Music etc) where I want them to by right click Properties Location Move. Hi geotso,
You'll have to fix the "Favorites" shell folder path in the registry. See "Method 2" in this article. How to move the special folders in Windows Vista: http://www.winhelponline.com/article...ows-Vista.html See also: Do not move special folders to the root drive! - The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/do...he-root-drive/ -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog http://www.winhelponline.com/blog "geotso" wrote in message ... Fixed. The only thing, I had to reboot twice, after registry tweak and after folder renaming. Thanks However, changing the default location of the "C:\Users\(User Name)\Favorites" folder will usually cause Favorites in IE7 to no longer work. guess what: It does work! I exported Favorites before the fix, gave full control permissions to the new Favorites folder and imported them back after it. Thanks again |
